How to build a FOB

A FOB is a forward base your team builds near the fight. It lets you put up walls and heavy weapons, and it stores supplies everyone can draw from. At $7,500 it also costs most of your starting cash, so do it right.

What a FOB does

Placing a FOB creates a circle around it where your team can build. Most structures can only go up inside that circle. The FOB also holds supplies and items that teammates can take from, so it works as a forward supply point as well as a base.

The price
The FOB kit costs $7,500, which is 75% of the $10,000 you start with. Don't buy one until you have cash to spare, and place it somewhere your team will actually fight.

Building one

  1. 01Buy the FOB kit from the equipment vendor at your main base.
  2. 02Deploy it from your quick slot. You can't place it inside a building, inside a main base or inside another FOB's circle.
  3. 03Fill it with Build supplies. Supplies cost $10 a unit, and every structure uses them up.
  4. 04Place a structure with your hammer from the build menu, inside the circle.
  5. 05Hit the yellow markers on the blueprint with your hammer until it is finished. Swings that land on the markers build it.

Hammers

There are three hammers. A bigger hammer unlocks bigger structures and builds faster. Support experience from building unlocks the bigger ones.

HammerWhat it buildsPrice or unlock
Small hammerSandbags, barriers and barbed wire.$100, no unlock
Medium hammerWalls, gates and doors around the FOB.Needs a Support level
Large hammerEmplacements like mortars and anti-air, and the drill rig. Builds fastest.Support level 8

Supplies

A FOB runs on four resources. Each one feeds something different.

Build
Building walls, defenses and structures at the FOB.
Ammo
Resupplying weapons and emplacements.
Fuel
Vehicles and structures that burn fuel.
Mechanical
Repairs and vehicle support.
The most common mistake
Ammo supplies reload the FOB's mortars and other emplacements. They don't refill your magazines. Buy Build supplies first, and Ammo only once you have something that fires.

You can carry loose supplies in yourself, but the fast way is a pallet in a truck or a helicopter.

  1. 01Load up

At your main base, sit in the driver's seat of a pallet vehicle, press B and buy pallets under Logistics.

  2. 02Drive or fly

Take a protected route. A loaded truck is a valuable target.

  3. 03Drop

Inside the FOB's circle, press G to drop the pallet.

  4. 04Transfer

Hold F on the pallet to move it into the FOB's supplies.

A supply run. One pallet goes into the FOB in one go, where a crate has to be emptied item by item.

Vehicles that can carry whole pallets: Ural and Z20 Lakota. The Ural takes 2 pallets at a time for $5,000.

Where to put it

  • Close to the Control Zone, or on the route the other teams have to use to reach it. A FOB nobody fights near is $7,500 wasted. It doesn't have to be inside the zone.
  • Somewhere a truck can reach, and ideally with a flat spot for a helicopter to land.
  • Next to existing buildings or high ground that already gives cover.
  • Check the map guides for where the zone can land on each map.

Does it pay?

Yes, if you build. Finishing a structure pays more than a kill, and every hammer swing that lands pays a little. Building also earns Support experience, which unlocks the bigger hammers. You don't need your own FOB to earn from it: bring a $100 hammer to a teammate's base and help build. See how to make money for the numbers.
