Buying a vehicle
Vehicles come from the Vehicle Vendor in your safe zone, marked with a car sign. It is a different vendor from the one that sells guns and gear, with separate tabs for land and air. The price comes out of your own cash, the same money that carries over between matches.
Most vehicles need a Driver or Pilot level and a one-time unlock payment before you can buy them. See roles and leveling.
Your first vehicles
Three vehicles can be bought from the start with no unlock:
The Kodiak is the one to learn on. $2,500 for 4 seats is $625 a seat, and its bed takes crates, so you can bring supplies along. The MH-6 is the cheapest way into the air at $6,250, but that is 63% of your starting cash. Learn to fly before you fill it with teammates.
Moving teammates to the zone pays Driver or Pilot XP and cash, so a cheap taxi can pay for itself. See how to make money and every vehicle on the vehicles page.
Fuel and repairs
Every vehicle burns fuel, helicopters included, and an empty tank leaves you stranded. Damage is per part: icons on your screen show what is broken, like a tire or the engine, and you fix each part on its own.
- 01Buy a Fuel Can ($150) and a Wrench ($150) from the equipment vendor before you set off.
- 02Hold the item on the vehicle to refuel or repair it.
- 03For big jobs, drive to a FOB with a repair and refuel station. It runs on the FOB's supplies instead of your money. See the FOB guide.
Repairing is always cheaper than buying the vehicle again.
Flying helicopters
A helicopter gets a squad across the map faster than anything else, and it is also the easiest way to lose everyone at once. What experienced pilots agree on:
- Fly low. Use hills and terrain as cover. Altitude makes you easy to see and easy to lock on to.
- Land short of the zone. Never hover over the objective. Set down nearby and change your approach from trip to trip, so nobody can wait for you.
- Pick flat, open ground. Stay clear of trees, wires and slopes, and bleed off speed before you set down.
- Time your flares. A launcher lock only gives you a sound warning. Fire flares a second or two before the missile hits, not the moment you hear the lock.
- Watch for anti-air. The Flakpanzer Gepard can move, so a spot that was safe last trip may not be now.
- Practice alone. Learn on the MH-6 away from the fighting before you carry passengers.
Killing vehicles
Rifles won't stop anything armored. For that you need launchers, AT mines or C4, and anti-air launchers for helicopters. Hit the back or the engine, where vehicles are weakest.
It pays, too. Destroying an enemy vehicle that someone bought pays you cash. A vehicle nobody paid for pays nothing.
| You destroy | You get |
|---|---|
| Artillery tank | $14,000 |
| Attack helicopter | $9,000 |
| Tank | $7,000 |
| Spawn vehicle | $5,000 |
Mistakes to avoid
- Driving or flying straight into the enemy. The vehicle dies and so does everyone's kit.
- Setting off without fuel or a wrench, then getting stuck halfway to the zone.
- Taking the same route every time. Enemy anti-air learns it fast.
- Buying a helicopter before you can fly it. Crashes cost the squad, not just you.
