How to make money

Almost everything that helps your team pays cash. Kills are only one way in, and not the easiest one.

The short version

Go where the Control Zone is and stay useful there. The zone is where the fights, the revives, the building and the transport jobs happen, and just being inside it pays. The Hot Zone in the middle pays double and counts you double for zone control.

The only number that matters
Profit, not income. What you earned in a life minus what you spent on the gear you lost. The counter next to your cash in the top right shows it for your current life. Green arrow good, red arrow bad.

What pays

Rough numbers reported by players. They move around between patches, so use them to compare, not to plan to the dollar.

By role

Support - building

Probably the steadiest money in the game. Buy a FOB, get it to the front (a helicopter is fastest), place it, then use the free hammer to put up walls, gates, doors and sandbags. Every finished build pays, and a fully fortified FOB adds up to thousands. You also get paid for helping teammates finish their builds, and for structures your team keeps using.

Medic - reviving and healing

Downed teammates show up as pulsing circles on the map. A revive is worth close to a kill, and nobody shoots back while you do it. Hand out bandages and first aid kits between fights. Mixing medic with a bit of assault works well: you get paid for kills, revives, healing and Hot Zone time in the same fight.

Recon - spotting

Buy binoculars or a monocular, find high ground over the Hot Zone and mark enemies. You get paid for the spot and again when a teammate kills what you marked. Marking first is often worth more than taking the shot yourself. The catch: you see very little around you while looking through the glass, so pick a spot nobody walks past.

Pilot and driver - transport

Ferry players from base to the zone. You get paid per passenger dropped in the zone, a bit more if they stay alive for a while after, and a bonus for the kills they get. A full helicopter can make thousands per trip. You lose money if passengers die right after drop-off or jump without a parachute, and getting shot down with a full cabin costs you team kill penalties. Empty seats can be filled with supplies for the FOB.

Once any team hits 20 points, an M113 APC spawn vehicle shows up at main base. Drive it into a good position and you get paid every time a teammate spawns on it, plus for their kills. Park it somewhere safe and it keeps paying.

Logistics - supplies

Deliver supply pallets to the FOB by truck, car or helicopter. Some players also buy bandages and ammo at base and sell them to teammates at the front for a markup. A bit cheeky, but it works because nobody wants to walk back.

Assault - fighting

Kills and assists pay, but you have to win the fight and survive long enough for it to be profit. If you are new, pick one of the roles above first and fight when the fight comes to you.

A good first hour

  1. 01Buy a cheap loadout. See the loadout prices.
  2. 02Get a ride to the Control Zone instead of walking.
  3. 03Pick one job - medic or spotter are cheapest to start.
  4. 04Stay near the Hot Zone, but not in the open.
  5. 05Loot the gear of enemies you kill so you don't have to buy it.
  6. 06Watch the profit counter. If a life ends red three times in a row, change something.

Don't do this

Farming with other players gets you banned
Setting up kill trades or other deals with enemies to farm cash pays very little, and the anti-cheat looks for it. People have been hit with timed bans and had their cash and XP reset to 0. Posting guides for exploits can get you a permanent ban.

Season reset

Cash and XP reset when a season ends. Whatever cash you have left is turned into Gold Bars, which are only for cosmetics. So there is no point sitting on a huge pile at the end of a season - spend it on the gear that makes you money.

Payouts are from beta and early access reports and can change with any patch, so treat them as ballpark figures.
