Weight classes explained

Everything you carry has a weight, and the total puts you in one of five classes. The heavier the class, the slower you move, aim and recover. Past a point you can't even sprint.

The five classes

The game adds up the weight of everything you carry and puts you in a class. Up to 10 kg you move as normal. Every class after that costs you speed and makes it slower to aim down sights.

ClassWeightSpeedAimingWhat changes
Lightest0-10 kg--No penalty.
Light10-17 kg-5%+5%A little slower, slower stamina regen.
Medium17-27 kg-13%+6%Noticeably slower, much slower stamina regen.
Heavy27-40 kg-20%+15%No tactical sprint, slower leaning and aiming.
Super Heavy40+ kg-20%+17%No sprint at all, the worst aim handling.
The line that matters
At 27 kg you go Heavy, and Heavy turns off tactical sprint. That is the difference between crossing an open field and getting caught in it.

What real kits weigh

Three kits made of the armor, helmet, vest and backpack you would actually buy. Weapons, magazines and supplies come on top, so treat these as the starting point.

  • Max protection 27.6 kg

Max protection

The jump is in the armor. Level 3 Armor alone weighs 10.5 kg, which is enough to leave the lightest class before you have picked up anything else. Level 4 Armor and Level 4 Helmet together weigh 22.5 kg, so the best protection in the game puts you in the Medium class on its own.

The heaviest items

The things that tip you over. Armor dominates, but some tools are heavier than you would think.

How to stay light

  • Match armor to the job. A medic or a driver gets more out of speed than out of level 4 plates.
  • Only carry tools when you are going to use them. A Heavy Drill alone weighs 6.9 kg.
  • The Adrenaline Pen lowers your weight class for a short time and gives unlimited tactical sprint. Save it for the run across open ground.
  • Use the loadout builder to add up your gear before you buy it. It shows the total weight of your kit.
