Wardogs/Stats

Roles and leveling

There is no class to pick in Wardogs. Whatever you do in a match levels the role that goes with it, and each role unlocks its own guns and gear. Play the way you want to progress.

How XP works

There are six roles: Assault, Medic, Support, Recon, Driver and Pilot. You never choose one. The game gives XP to whichever role matches what you just did, so a revive levels Medic and a kill with a sniper rifle levels Recon. All six level at the same time and independently, so one good match can move several of them.

That also means you only level what you actually do. If you want Medic gear but spend the match with an assault rifle far from your squad, Medic won't move. Each role runs to level 100, but the item unlocks stop around level 50.

Hot Zone
Fighting in the Hot Zone pays bonus cash, so the same actions are worth more there.

Wardog level

Your Wardog level is the six role levels added together. With every role at 5, you are Wardog level 30. It has no XP of its own, so anything you do raises it. It is the level that unlocks armor, helmets and the bigger tac vests:

Why this matters early
Level 2 armor needs Wardog level 30. Until then you are wearing level 1 at most, so a new player gets nothing out of saving for heavier armor. Spend on meds and a better gun instead.

Every role

What earns XP in each role, and the unlocks along the way. Level numbers are the ones the community lists agree on. Where they disagree, the item is left out.

What to level first

Most guides agree on Support and Medic first. Both reward things a good squad player does anyway, and both unlock gear that helps the whole team.

  • Support to level 5 for the RPG-7. Without it your squad has no answer to vehicles.
  • Medic to level 4 for the PP-19 Vityaz (B tier), an early SMG, and SMG kills level Medic further. Keep going to level 11 for the defibrillator, the instant revive. See the medic guide.
  • Assault levels on its own if you use rifles, and Recon is mostly for players who want to snipe.
  • Driver and Pilot are for players who want to run transport and supplies. Both pay well, because moving teammates pays. See the money guide.
A first goal in each role. The number is the role level it unlocks at.

Unlocks cost cash

Reaching a level doesn't give you the item. It lets you buy a permanent unlock, a one-time payment, and after that you pay the normal price every time you take it into a match. The one-time payments are big: the RPG-7 unlock costs $30,000 and the SKS $25,000, several times the $10,000 you start with.

So pick what you want next and save for it. A cheap kit you can afford to lose while you save is the way to get there. See how not to go broke.

Resets
At the end of a major update cycle the Wardog level and cash reset. Leftover cash is turned into Gold Bars. See gold bars.

Unlock levels come from community unlock lists and change with patches. We only list levels at least two sources agree on.
